How to Play Flood Cube

The Basic Rules

The goal of Flood Cube is simple to understand but incredibly difficult to master: color every single face on the 3D cube the exact same color.

• You start from a single highlighted cell on the cube (marked by a pulsating highlight).
• Click a color from the palette at the bottom of the screen — or tap any cell on the cube to flood to that color.
• Your starting area will change to that color, absorbing all adjacent tiles that match your new color into your growing blob.
• You only have a limited sequence of moves to completely conquer the board.

Strategic Tips

Unlike 2D games, you must rotate the cube! Click and drag to spin the 3D cube and see the hidden faces. A solid strategy involves finding colors that connect the front face to the back face early in the match, creating a web that quickly eats up large chunks of the board.

Game Modes Explained

Daily Double

The core daily experience. Every player in the world gets the exact same two cubes. Cube 1 is an 8x8 grid, and Cube 2 is a harder 9x9 grid. Win both under the par move limit to claim victory for the day and secure your spot on the daily leaderboard.

Challenge Cube

A tougher daily cube seeded with blockers. Everyone gets the same cube each day, and you have a limited number of attempts (three with Premium) to score a medal (Gold, Silver, Bronze) based on the attempt on which you clear it.

Infinite Zen

For those who want to practice or relax without a timer or leaderboard pressure. The cube keeps generating randomly, and each one still has its own move budget — your goal is simply to clear as many cubes as possible in a single run.

Power Mode

A run of escalating stages where you collect powerups — Freeze (buys you extra moves), Rewind (extra undos), Starter (choose your next starting cell), Scatter (converts part of a colour on your next flood) and Shuffle (rescrambles the board). By saving your powerups for the right moment, you can salvage a run that would otherwise be lost.

Scoring and Move Limits

Success in Flood Cube is fundamentally tied to efficiency. Every puzzle you face in the Daily Double, Challenge Cube, or Infinite mode is generated with a "Par" move budget — a target we calibrate from aggregate player results so that most players can win with careful play, without making it a giveaway.

Your goal is to flood the entire cube within the move budget. If you run out of moves before the cube is a single colour, the run is over. On the Daily Double and Challenge Cube, leaderboard placement is decided by the fewest moves used, with your completion time as the tiebreaker — so shaving off even a single move can move you up the board.

Advanced Strategies for Mastery

If you find yourself consistently failing on the 9x9 cubes, or struggling to maintain a streak in Infinite mode, it's time to refine your strategy beyond simply picking the most prominent color on the screen.

• The "Reach for the Far Side" Method: The most efficient solves are rarely achieved by expanding a blob outward uniformly. Instead, your primary objective should be to establish a bridge from your starting cell across to the far side of the cube. Once you have a "spine" running through the cube, every subsequent color choice will absorb massive chunks on all six faces simultaneously.
• Counting Colors (Color Conservation): At the start of a large cube, quickly identify if any one color is extremely sparse. If there are only two or three red tiles on the entire 9x9 board, avoid selecting the red button until the very end, if possible. By saving sparse colors, you prevent "dead moves" where choosing a color only absorbs one or two tiles. Let the sparse colors get consumed by the expansion of your main blob.
• Beware of the "Islands": An island is a group of identical colored tiles that are completely isolated from your main blob and surrounded by a different color. Because they are isolated, they force you to waste a move later just to connect to them. When planning your route, prioritize absorbing colors that will connect you to these islands, effectively eliminating two problems with one move.
• Rotate Constantly: Beginners often try to solve the front three visible faces before dealing with the back three. This is a fatal error. The optimal path almost always involves a color that is primarily located on the hidden faces. Always rotate the cube before every single move to ensure you aren't missing a connection that would save you a vital turn.

Why did I fail a puzzle when I still had two colors left?

You failed because you ran out of allowable moves. It's not just about turning the cube one solid color; it's about doing it efficiently. Always keep an eye on the "Moves Remaining" counter prominently displayed during gameplay.

Is every Flood Cube puzzle solvable?

Yes — a connected cube can always be reduced to a single colour, so there is always a solution.
